Lit

A tree trunk glows warm gold against the deep blue-black of night, lit from somewhere just out of frame. Beside it, a slim lamp post rises with its fixture catching a bright, hazy halo of light at the top. To the left, dark clusters of leaves and tangled branches fade into shadow, broken only by two pale patches where the light manages to slip through. The contrast between the illuminated trunk and the surrounding darkness makes the scene feel hushed and still, almost like a single spotlight has been cast on this one tree. Everything else in the painting recedes into deep, quiet blues and blacks.
