Out On A Limb

A green parrot perches low on a thick, textured branch, its head capped in bright red with a small patch of yellow near the beak. Its stout orange bill and pale, ringed eyes give it a curious, watchful expression as it looks slightly off to the side. Two clawed feet grip the branch firmly, one settling into a lower knot in the wood. Broad green leaves cluster below and around the perch, while the background falls into deep shadow, making the bird’s color glow all the more. The composition is tight and close, putting the parrot’s sturdy little body right at the center of attention.
