Ready for Mealtime
A cluster of pitcher plants rises tall against a deep, shadowed background, their chartreuse hoods curling open like waiting mouths. Sunlight seems to glow from within each leaf, catching threads of burgundy and rust along the veined throats. Some hoods lean together, curious and expectant, while one small pitcher unfurls low at the base, still tightly coiled. Behind them, blades of grass disappear into near-black shadow, making the green almost luminous by contrast. Each pitcher tilts at its own angle, giving the group a restless, watchful energy, as though every hooded mouth is turned toward something unseen, patient and ready.
